How does retained search differ from contingent search?

When you hire TorchLight, we commit to finding the right talent for the role regardless of difficulty. We are your partner until a new employee starts.

Under a contingent search, a firm may not focus on filling the position because it’s too difficult, they are working too many searches simultaneously and/or they don’t really understand your needs.

With no guarantee of payment, they are more likely to bombard you with resumes, even when they are not a perfect fit. They are competing against your internal recruiter and potentially other outside recruiters to fill the role which leads to a competition over who can find the fastest, but not necessarily best, candidate.
